Kashif Jameel, an engineer, sustained three bullet injuries and was admitted to a private hospital.
Dr Kafeel Khan, the suspended pediatrician, who is on bail, has expressed threat to his and his family’s life after his younger brother Kashif Jameel, 34, was shot at by unidentified miscreants near JP Hospital in Gorakhnath area here on Sunday night.
Kafeel was suspended and arrested after the deaths of about 30 kids in BRD Medical College here, allegedly due to oxygen shortage.
Kashif, an engineer, sustained three bullet injuries in his upper arms, chin and neck following which he was admitted to a private hospital, where is condition is said to be out of danger, said reports.
After the incident Kafeel took to social media and wrote “My brother has been shot at by unidentified bike borne miscreants. I have always said that they would try to kill us.”
Though Kafeel could not be contacted, another of his brother Aadil said said: “I and Kafeel were in Kushinagar to attend an Iftar party hosted by the doctor community and heard the news of my brother being attacked on our way back home. Two bike borne miscreants came from behind and shot at Kashif. He mustered courage to hire a taxi and reached the Star Hospital himself.”
Aadil said he could not say as to who were the attackers. At the time of going to the press, Kafeel’s family members had reached the police station to file an FIR .
“The matter is being probed. We have received a complaint and an FIR will be lodged in this,” said Gorakhnath SHO Ramesh Shukla.
